REMOTE French-Canadian Transcription

Job Snapshot: Full time $15-$16/ hourly


One of our largest national accounts is looking for a several French Canadian speaking Data Associates to add to their team.
Location: Able to work remotely
Hours: Mon-Fri 9:00am-5:00pm (EASTERN STANDARD TIME)
This position will be working with some of their products to assist with transcribing and various data analysis. They will be assessing any issues or problems that arise and sending customer feedback to the development team. The role will be responsible for heavy data processing as well as a writing development aspect.
Responsibilities:
  • Transcribe and annotate audio and visual data in both French Canadian and English
  • Listen to recordings through a headset and enter data into a computer system
  • Translating established guidelines into daily work practices
Candidates must possess all, or most, of the following:
  1. Writing background: proofreading, copy writing, editing, writing development
  2. Native or NEAR native level in French Canadian
  3. Understanding of Canadian accent/slang/cultural differences
  4. Strong written customer support rather than verbal
  5. Some level of comfort with data processing

Looking for a writer who can do solid research and knows how to track down a facts among the clickbait. Someone who is comfortable writing in a different style at 2PM than they did at 10AM. Someone with a strong voice, but knows how to modify that voice depending on audience. Someone who knows a good bit about how the world functions, both in terms of science and of people. A writer who loves getting to the roots of things and finding connections and understanding stuff deeply.
It’s a tall order, but devilishly fun work for the right person. No relocation required (employer is based in Missoula, MT)

Requirements:
Solid portfolio of non-fiction writing. Ideally one that shows off great topic selection, solid research, and good titles. These articles will have been written with a dual goal of getting people to read them, but also being worth people’s time.

Experience writing about science. You don’t have to have a degree in the sciences, but the ability to ingest, synthesize, and make accessible sciencey stuff is a must.

Knowledge of internet culture. Y’know...memes. Not all of them, but some of them.

Ethical Standards. Our reputation is at stake with every post. If you get something big wrong, that’s a big deal for us. Zero tolerance for plagiarism! We are much more accepting of missed deadlines than missed standards.

Adaptable language. Not only will a voice modify by audience, but also by medium. Adjusting for print versus podcast versus video is important.

This is a freelance job with about 20 hours per week, at a rate of $35 dollars per hour, initial term is six months with possibility for extension.

We’re looking for someone proactive and detail-oriented with excellent written communication skills to serve as our virtual assistant.


Summary
  • This is not an entry-level assistant position. You MUST have at least 2-4 years’ experience working remotely as a Virtual Assistant for a business owner
  • Expect to get several requests/day, many of which include tasks that must be done that day
  • You'll handle business and personal details, including scheduling, customer service requests, uploading blog posts, ordering groceries, and making personal appointments
  • This is a part-time role, starting between 40-60 hours per month. Depending on how we work together, this could increase to more hours per month
  • It's also remote, so you can work anywhere in the United States / during ET business hours. We communicate via email, chat, and phone
  • You must pass a background check and be bondable


 Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Manage website, including uploading blog posts, formatting newsletters, and scheduling social media posts
  • Maintain daily calendar, arrange calls, meetings, and conferences while making sure all details are handled in a clear and organized manner
  • Book all travel arrangements, including lodging, transportation, and activities, both within the United States and internationally
  • Assist with monitoring of inbox and emails, including responding to clients, other contractors, and business contacts
  • Research and be the point person for service providers for projects such as web design
  • Handle personal details such as shopping, ordering gifts, scheduling personal appointments, and maintaining household items
  • Ability to manage multiple incoming requests, while ensuring they are relayed or handled at the appropriate time, in the necessary order and in the correct manner
  • High level of experience with Google Apps and MailChimp or similar application
  • Knowledge of What’s App, Basecamp, Telegraph and Slack
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications
  • Capability to set up new systems and processes in order to streamline business and personal functions


 Education and Experience
  • At least 2-4 years’ experience as a virtual assistant for a business owner
  • Ability to handle several emails and requests per/ day
  • Exceptional ability to communicate progress on multiple projects
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Trustworthy with strong personal integrity
  • Forward-thinker who can proactively handle circumstances and situations to head off any crisis situations
  • Experience managing calendars
  • Must be reachable during the hours of 8AM - 6PM ET and respond to messages within 2 hours
  • Top notch communication via email and phone, internally and with customers
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks
  • Perfectionist, super attention to detail
  • Since this is a virtual position, must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal oversight

Minimum qualifications

  • Experience attracting and hiring design talent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
