Product Manager

Hi, we’re CompanyCam. We create simple-to-use, visual-first communication and accountability tools for contractors. Imagine a B2B SaaS app that doesn’t look like garbage, built by a team of capable, laid-back people. But don’t let the chill throw you off; we’re a fast-growing, product-led startup with big plans for the future.

The Role

We're looking for sharp, self-motivated, kind, problem-solving Product Managers to join our team. You'll use your experience and expertise in shipping well-designed and successful SaaS apps to help us build the right stuff. We're not short on ideas, but we do need someone that can use their own insight, connection to users, data, and knowledge of technical feasibility to make product strategy decisions.

We're not looking for backlog administrators or "project" managers, and you won't impress us with Scrum or Agile certifications.

We're looking for someone that'd be capable, either now or in the future, of being the CEO at their own startup.

Why CompanyCam?

Did you wake up this morning with a burning desire to create apps for roofers, remodelers, or plumbers? No? I didn’t think so. I admit, it’s not something one thinks about without some prompting. But bear with me for a moment...

Contractors are everywhere. They build our homes, they literally put roofs over our heads, they wire up our electricity, give us access to the internet, fix our plumbing and AC, paint our homes, the list goes on.

At CompanyCam, you’ll work with intelligent, kind people to make contractors' work easier and create time for them, so they can get shit done and spend more time with their families or on other things they care about. Sound corny? You’ll find that mid-western ethos permeates our culture (we’re based in Lincoln, NE), so if you can’t hang with that, no hard feelings, but this probably isn’t the role for you.

What it's like to work at CompanyCam?

Our Product and Engineering departments do things a little differently. We use Basecamp’s Shape Up method (fused with empowered product teams a la Marty Cagan's Inspired) to organize and execute our work. You'll largely be spending your time "shaping" projects for the engineers and designers to work on, while also spending some time in the weeds with them on delivery. No sprinting, no scrumming, no death by 1,000 meetings. We collaborate as a team, but we also aim to protect our engineers' and designers' time, treat them like adults, and trust them to get their work done. We’re also big on not overworking people. Put in a focused eight hours and TURN. SLACK. OFF. No nights and weekends required.

Our larger company culture is also refreshingly chill. We have fun, learn from each other, and don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We cover the important stuff too. We pay well, offer unlimited vacation, meaningful equity, health insurance, and other benefits. If you're local or down to move to Nebraska in a post-COVID world, we’re custom remodeling a new office space in the Lincoln Haymarket area that you’ll love. If you're remote (about a third of the overall product+engineering group is), we’re well set up with great conference room video equipment so you feel like you’re there with us, and once live is back to normal we'll fly you in a few times a year to hang out in scenic Lincoln, NE.

Now, on to the requirements:

You MUST...

  • Show up every day, having the courage to do the difficult but necessary stuff.
  • Grow up constantly: you're OK working in an environment full of change. You take responsibility, love ownership, learn continuously, and have a growth mindset.
  • Do good by treating your co-workers and customers the way you would like to be treated.
  • Have strong experience and expertise in collaborating with Product (UX/UI) Designers and Engineers to build user-facing apps.
  • Be comfortable with -- and adept at -- interacting directly with customers, showing a proven ability to uncover their true needs.
  • Be an expert at stakeholder management, integrating their expertise with customer and business needs to achieve success. Be ready to debate with Luke, our CEO who will challenge you with many (good) opinions about product and UX.
  • Be excited be held accountable to numbers that measure real outcomes.
  • Reside permanently and currently somewhere in the continental USA. Sorry, we're not hiring PMs outside the US at this time even if you're willing to work during US timezones.

It'd be NICE if you...

  • Live in Lincoln, NE or are interested in relocating (we'd provide assistance).
  • Are a former engineer or product designer.
  • Have some data-diving experience in Mixpanel or writing SQL queries.
  • Have worked within the Shape Up methodology and know its strengths/weaknesses.
  • Have experience building well-designed apps in a Product-led Growth environment and can leverage that experience here.

Product Manager

Hi-dee-hoo! Biteable here. We’re growing up quick and need a Product Manager to lead one of our cross-functional squads. You'll help your squad identify customer needs, find solutions, and ship like greased lightning. If that's the kind of thing you do already, come and do it for us.

A little bit about Biteable Culture

At Biteable we're committed to the happiness of our staff. We love it when everyone feels supported and we doubly love it when everyone feels empowered to create.

The Biteable team is scattered around the globe from Seattle to Singapore, and lots of places in between. Our diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives are the glue that binds us.

We treat each other like adults and we set our own schedules. We also recognize that families are part of our daily lives and we like that they often turn up on our video calls.
All about you
You're experienced. It's not your first rodeo. You've managed teams of engineers, designers, and marketers for at least 4 years.

You've got the moves. You know which software project management tools are worth their salt and you're up to speed on latest methodologies.

You know data. You're used to pulling your own analytics data and, when you do, you know what you're looking at.

You like customers. You've spent many a day running customer interviews and discovering needs and pain-points.

You set goals and manage expectations. You're used to developing and managing team OKRs and KPIs, along with reporting results.

You speak 'engineer'. You know tech and you're comfortable riffing with engineers about development and other code-related stuff.

You speak 'design'. You're understand how product design works and you're good with UX processes.

You engage everyone. You're a strong communicator and you engage stakeholders at all levels.

You're a great presenter. You're comfortable sharing your team's work with customers and colleagues alike.

You're most of these things. But not necessarily all. You're a quick learner and mastering new skills is a hobby of yours.

All about the role
  • You’ll manage your own schedule. While you’ll need to maintain regular work hours (for the benefit of your squad), you’re free to lay your day out the way you like it.
  • You'll lead a cross-functional squad. Your product squad will be made up of talented folk from Biteable chapters like Engineering, Design, and Marketing.
  • You'll use analysis to spot trends. You'll analyze both internal metrics and customer inputs to help identify trends in customer needs and blockers.
  • You'll help identify solutions. Which means driving the discovery process and shortlisting potential solutions.
  • You'll help validate solutions. Prior to building, you'll work with Product Design to validate solutions.
  • You'll map things out. You'll work with your squad to break solutions into achievable roadmaps.
  • You'll lead development sprints. To get projects shipped, you'll help your squad sprint to the finish.
  • You'll watch what happens after release. After features ship, you'll monitor for impact and look for areas to improve.
  • You'll be the voice of your squad. You'll communicate priorities and results to stakeholders and leadership.
  • You'll develop a vision. To give your team something to rally behind, you'll translate future opportunities into an inspiring vision.
All about us

We are Biteable, a tech start-up that makes (jaw-dropping) videos possible for everyone. We stand apart in our market thanks to our dedication to studio-quality content and our passion for simplicity.

Since our launch in 2014 we’ve:
  • Created a community of over 6 million users
  • Rendered more than 10 million videos
  • Raised $3.9 million in venture capital
We’re growing fast and have offices in Melbourne and Hobart, Australia, with remote team members scattered around the world. We are informal, structurally flat, and fun to work with.

More about our culture

Biteable is a bit of rarity. Everyone genuinely cares about each other. When asked, they use words like these to describe their colleagues: rigorous, respectful, open, supportive, honest, and egoless.
Don't just take our word for it, though. Here are a few quotes that we didn't make up:
“I’m thankful for the flexibility Biteable gives me around my family commitments. I really like that my team is open to new ideas and processes. And I enjoy that I get to work on a variety of problems with a mix of people with diverse areas of expertise.”
“The development team is a great group of people. They’re smart and interested in doing high-quality work, but foster a social and supportive atmosphere, too.”
“Biteable's team of smart, funny, engaged, and caring people makes my work here enjoyable, every day. Being close to decisions and decision-makers helps me make an impact on our work.”

“At Biteable, you’re given the support and flexibility you need to do your best work in a way that suits your lifestyle. I’m continuously impressed by this team’s skill and unwavering passion. But what’s more, is that everyone operates with kindness, respect, and a great sense of humor.”

How to apply
We want you to start soon. To apply, dispatch your CV and a short cover letter about why you and Biteable fit together like a kanban board and a calendar.
We’ll review your application and then set up informal interviews with a handful of candidates. We've got our fingers crossed that you're one of them — we're rooting for you.

Product Manager

Summary

CartHook is the leading upsell platform for Shopify brands, and we’re growing. To date, our customers have processed over a billion dollars through CartHook and, as we pursue our mission to help ecommerce merchants thrive, we have some big plans for expansion. That’s where you come in..

Who We Are

We are a group of people who give a damn. We believe in doing what’s right and speaking up, even when it’s difficult. We pursue success, humbly.

We work on two continents, with offices in Portland, Oregon, and Ljubljana, Slovenia. However, we’re growing our remote teams, so you can live and work just about wherever you want, as long as it meets any role-specific location or time zone requirements (which are outlined below). Just make sure you have a reliable internet connection.

We bridge time zones and distance with thorough and transparent communication, and processes designed to empower and support each other. We’re a company of people from a variety of backgrounds, with a range of perspectives, which makes us stronger. We frequently work in cross-functional teams, and you’ll get to work with awesome people in all different roles in the company. We leave our egos at the door and value input and ideas from everyone at the company.

How We Work

Live Where You Want
We’re a hybrid of co-located and distributed teams, so you can live and work just about wherever you want. For this role, it has to be somewhere between the Pacific Time Zone (UTC-8) and Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5).

No Crazy Hours
We’re all adults and we trust each other to manage our time appropriately. There’s no need to punch a clock, or ask for permission to take off early one afternoon to go see the doctor. We look at what you accomplish, not how long you are in front of a computer. We work hard and smart, but we’re in this for the long haul.

Responsible Time Off
We want you to take time off; it makes you happier, healthier, and more productive. In fact, we have an unlimited time off policy, plus two mandatory weeks for holiday break in December/January. It’s important you take the time you need, whether you’re caring for your health, the health of a family member, or going on vacation. (We look forward to seeing pictures of your trip in #the-pub Slack channel!) Be mindful of Black Friday through Cyber Monday. That’s our merchants’ busiest time of the year, and we need all-hands-on-deck just in case.

Grow and Learn
We aren’t satisfied with what we already know; we want to learn more and we want you to as well. Think conferences (when those are a thing again), online courses and resources, and dedicated time away to learn something new…it’s up to you and your manager. Let us know what you need.

Benefits
Insurance coverage: For our U.S. employees, we offer health, dental, and vision insurance. We cover 100% of your medical and dental premiums and 75% for vision. We also cover a percentage of the premiums for dependents. If our default plan isn’t right for you, there are other options available to fit your needs.

Parental leave: All parents who welcome a new child by birth, surrogacy, foster, or adoption are eligible to take 8 weeks of paid leave. All birth mothers are eligible for an additional 8 weeks of paid leave. New mothers will be able to have a flexible, soft re-entry coming back to work.

401k Plan: Employees are eligible for a 401k plan provided by Guideline and integrated into our payroll system. Plans are funded by the employee.

Who You Are

You’re an innovative, motivated, and experienced product manager who thrives in a dynamic, quickly changing business environment. Your ability to bridge the gap among different departments including engineering, marketing, customer support, and leadership allows you to build solutions that meet our customers’ needs and successfully bring our product(s) to market. You confidently make your way through unknown territory without having all of the answers, and instead, you know when and how to ask the right questions. To be successful in this role, you will need the ability to influence without direct authority, and speak to and understand business and technical teams and their goals.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of product management experience at a software company
  • Desire to deeply understand our business strategy, competitive landscape, and opportunities
  • Confidence to dive in and learn new solutions and processes without a lot of assistance
  • Innovative, strategic thinker with a high level of business acumen
  • Ability to analyze product requirements and develop appropriate processes to ensure they’re successfully achieved
  • Proven track record of shipping customer-facing features that provide value to both customers and the company
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deliver presentations and artifacts that communicate product strategy and progress
  • Good understanding and working experience in technology development best practices (such as, Agile, etc.) and product management methodologies
  • Bonus points if you have ecommerce industry experience

CartHook is an equal opportunity employer. At CartHook, you can be the person you are, regardless of ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, age, size, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity. We provide a safe, welcoming space for those who are marginalized.
