Product Designer

The Gist

  • Bootcamp.com is the market leader in dental admission test prep, and we're rapidly expanding into medical education.
  • We’re a bootstrapped, profitable education company used by 20,000+ college / medical students a year to pass their classes and board exams.
  • We’re launching several new products in the next 12 months.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to help design how our students prepare for the biggest tests of their lives.

About the Job

You’ll be working closely with our co-founders and engineering team. We’ll meet 1 - 2 times a week to discuss:
  1. High-level vision for Bootcamp.com design language
  2. The design challenge in focus for the week
Below are some design challenges that are would be typical of your work here:
  • Own large design initiatives end-to-end.
  • Work directly with our product and engineering team to build beautiful study experiences that revolutionize the way we learn online.
  • Create wireframes, high fidelity designs and prototypes to tackle difficult UX problems.
  • Maintain and iterate upon our Bootcamp.com brand visuals and design language.
  • Work simultaneously on some of the biggest problems (lower the friction to study so it's as simple as flipping open a book), as well as quick and dirty UI fixes
  • Design and update Bootcamp.com’s print and digital marketing materials, including flyers, powerpoints, and case studies.

About You

  • You have a solid understanding of Figma and know the ins-and-outs of auto layout, master components and variants, and can maintain an organized asset library.
  • You’ve been on a remote team before and are comfortable working asynchronously.
  • Bonus if you’re familiar with Webflow, video editing, and / or have any experience with Javascript libraries like React.
We have a small team, so your impact will be felt immediately. Based on your performance, you may build a team of direct reports.

About Our Pay and Benefits

  • The salary range for this role is $90,000 - 130,000 (we use a compensation formula that adjusts for experience).
  • Equity in Bootcamp.com as well as a full benefit package including health, vision, dental insurance, 401k (US employees only at this time) and other perks.
  • Fully remote team but prefer you be located within 4 hours of EST
  • 3 weeks of paid time off

Hiring Process

If we’re interested, the hiring process follows these steps:
  1. We have an introductory call on Zoom.
  2. If we feel like it could be a good fit, we send you a 5-hour paid test project. You’ll be paid the full amount regardless of whether we hire you or not.
  3. We talk again to review your test project and ideas.
  4. We agree on terms, pending references. I speak to a few of the people that you’ve worked with.
  5. We start working together on a 30-day contract-to-hire basis to make sure we both feel set up for success.

The Role:
We’re looking for a designer with experience in the user acquisition space to build our creative production pipeline in close collaboration with our Growth and Content teams. 

The ideal candidate is experienced in creating visually appealing and performant assets for paid social, constantly seeks inspiration from the latest ad trends on social networks (Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook), and is familiar with fundamental marketing KPIs. 

As our first full-time designer focused on ad creative, you will develop and design static and short video ad assets for our apps, Elevate and Balance. You will connect to every aspect of the creative process, from ideation to execution to reporting on results. 

Oh, and one more thing: This is a full-time, fully remote position, so you can feel free to work anywhere in the world that you'd like (that accommodates typical North American business hours).

How You'll Make an Impact Here:
  • You'll directly impact how many new people benefit from our products, turning our mission into reality, by designing creative ads. 
  • You’ll educate the company, especially the growth and content teams, on the latest creative trends in the fast-moving landscape of social networks.
  • You’ll be a brand guardian, ensuring work conforms to our brand guidelines and standards. 
  • You’ll collaborate with the content team to leverage fun, engaging educational and wellness content in ad creatives.
  • You’ll occasionally liaise with external creative agencies and submit design briefs. 

Qualifications: 
  • 5+ years of experience as a digital advertising designer in paid social and/or direct response marketing
  • Fluent in Figma, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Strong understanding of trending creative content on social platforms, especially TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram 
  • An impressive portfolio that demonstrates the latest ad trends, innovation, and creativity
  • Ability to efficiently produce high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines
  • Familiar with basic marketing KPIs such as CTR, CVR, CPA, and ROAS
  • Desire to grow your skills and the ability to learn new tools quickly

Bonus:
  • Experience creating UGC content on TikTok 
  • Experience with developing educational and/or mindfulness social assets 
  • Passion for ad design in the education and mental fitness vertical
